South African singer Tyla emerges as the Top Afrobeats Artiste at the 2024 Billboard Music Awards on December 12, beating Nigerian stars Burna Boy, Rema, Tems, and Asake.
The Water singer triumphed in a category typically dominated by Nigerian Afrobeats artists, marking a significant milestone in her music career.
Tyla also won Top Afrobeats Song for her hit Water, surpassing Adam Port & Stryv’s Move and Tems’ Me & U to secure the award.
Globally recognized for Water, Tyla made history in February 2024 by winning the inaugural Grammy for Best African Music Performance, becoming the youngest African Grammy winner at 22.
