Plateau Massacre: Peter Obi Consoles Victims Donates N5 Million

(idoamebo) – The Labour Party’s presidential flagbearer for the 2023 elections, Mr Peter Obi, on Saturday, showed solidarity with the internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Bokkos and Barkin-ladi Local Government Areas of Plateau State, following the deadly attack by armed men on Christmas Eve.

Mr Peter Obi, who was accompanied by party officials, expressed his sympathy and support to the victims of the attack by donating N5 million to them.

Peter Obi Laments Insecurity, Urges FG to Protect Nigerians

During his visit, Mr Obi lamented the state of insecurity in the country, and urged the Federal Government to take decisive actions to protect the lives and property of Nigerians.

He also called on the government to address the humanitarian crisis caused by the attack, which has forced many people to seek refuge in camps and other places.

He said it was unacceptable for Nigerians to be refugees in their own country.

Attack Claims 195 Lives, Destroys Houses

According to reports, the attack by armed men on the local governments on Christmas Eve claimed 195 lives and destroyed many houses.

The breakdown of the casualties and damages shows that 148 people were killed in Bokkos Local Government Area, 19 in Mangu Local Government Area, and 27 in Barkin Ladi.

In addition many houses were set ablaze in Bokkos council, while one house was razed in Mangu LGA.

The attack has been condemned by various stakeholders, including religious leaders, civil society groups, and politicians, who have called for justice and peace in the state.
