idoamebo – The Nigerian music industry is in mourning as one of its rising stars, Osazuwa Agbonayinma, also known as Zuwa, was fatally shot in the US on Sunday.

Zuwa was part of the musical duo Roze, along with his brother Eghosa, who are known for their hit song ‘Ileke’ released in 2020.

Zuwa’s Father Confirms His Death

Zuwa’s father, Ehiozuwa Agbonayinma, a former Nigerian lawmaker, confirmed the sad news to Entertainment News on Channels Television.

He said that his son, who had a master’s degree in Architecture, was shot in the back of the head by unknown assailants.

He did not reveal any further details about the incident or the motive behind it.

Zuwa and Roze: A Promising Musical Career Cut Short

Zuwa and his brother Eghosa, who are based in Houston, Texas, started their musical journey as Roze in 2014.

They were inspired by their father, who was also a musician in his youth. They described their genre as Afro-fusion, blending elements of Afrobeat, R&B, pop, and hip-hop.

Roze gained popularity in Nigeria and beyond with their catchy song ‘Ileke’, which means ‘beads’ in Yoruba.

The song was praised for its upbeat tempo, catchy lyrics, and colorful video.

The duo also released other songs such as ‘Patience‘, ‘The Whole Night‘, and ‘All Night Long‘.

Zuwa and Roze were working on their debut album, which was expected to be released this year.

They had also performed at various events and shows, including the One Africa Music Fest in New York in 2019.
